Apparently Jon Jones’ positive USADA test is going to cost him.
UFC commentator Jon Anik spoke with co-host Kenny Florian on a recent episode of their podcast (listen above), about the Jones situation. According to Anik, Jones, who was pulled from UFC 200 and faces a number of other bank account-blasting consequences depending on how things turn out, could be looking at $30 million in loses as a result of this incident.
“The financial swing for Jones here is absolutely incredible. I’m sure for fans that’s not their foremost concern, but we’re sort of advancing the story a little bit here or at least talking about this several days after it happened. Antoine Walker, former Boston Celtic, made over $100 million in the NBA and blew all of it. Jon Jones is almost the opposite of that. The untold millions he isn’t realizing because he can’t make the walk in certain spots in his career. Now, they say he might have made from UFC 200 alone, so if he’s suspended for 12 months or 24 months, Kenny, that might be like a 25 or $30 million loss by ingesting whatever supplement he popped for.”
Jon Jones last fought against Ovince Saint Preux earlier this year where he won the interim UFC 205-pound title. When scheduled to fight Daniel Cormier to unify the 205 pound titles in the main event of UFC 200, Jones popped hot on an out-of-competition test administered by USADA, and was subsequently pulled from the event.
